Jerry Monroe Coleman, 89, passed away peacefully at his home in El Paso on September 16.
Jerry was born on December 5, 1935 in Brownwood, Texas, the son of Chesley and Erva Coleman.
After receiving his law degree from the University of Texas at Austin, Jerry practiced law for many years as a partner with the Austin firm of Long, Coleman, Dugger & Cotton.
In 1977, Jerry became Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of Citizens National Bank of Austin.
After moving to El Paso in the early 1980s, Jerry, together with Richard N. Azar, developed property surrounding the El Paso Airport. Along with other partners, he owned the Rhino Self-Storage facilities in El Paso and developed properties including restaurants, apartments, and commercial buildings.
Jerry touched the lives of so many with his humor and generosity. He always had a funny story to tell, a word of encouragement, and wise advice. Jerry is survived by his beloved wife, Polly Coleman, daughter Minden Dickson, grandsons Evan Magallanes and Jacob Magallanes, and his cherished poodles, Rory and Polo.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, October 3at Sunset Funeral Home West, 480 N. Resler, El Paso, Texas.
