El Paso

John “Johnny” Kendrick Behrens passed away peacefully on April 12, 2024 in El Paso, Texas.

John was born on September 13, 1936 to Vivian Webb Behrens and Ernest Kendrick Behrens. John spent his youth in Presidio, Texas, where he graduated from high school and worked at the Las Vegas ranch alongside his father. His family later moved to El Paso where Johnny studied at the University of Texas at El Paso.

John spent over 40 years in San Antonio, Texas, where he studied at San Antonio College, taught Spanish classes, attended church and organized singles clubs. John had an avid interest in genealogy and his research earned him membership in many historical organizations including the Sons of the American Revolution, Jamestowne Society, and the National Society Magna Charta Dames and Barons.

John was also a Freemason and enjoyed traveling, dancing, disc jockeying, playing music and composing songs. He recorded his song “All Because of You” with his group Johnny Behrens and the Jay-Bees, and it was later recorded by Robin Luke in 1960. Luke said he considered “All Because of You” to be one of the best recordings he made in Los Angeles. https://robinluke.com/bio.htm
