John O'Rourke

October 12, 1965 — July 3, 2022

El Paso

John O’Rourke, age 56, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, July 3, 2022. He was a wonderful son, brother, husband and father and will be greatly missed. John is preceded in death by his loving father; Ferrell O’Rourke. He is survived by his dearest mother; Pattie O’Rourke; his beautiful wife; Enedina Guadalupe O’Rourke; his loving children; Patrick J. O’Rourke, Emily A. O’Rourke and Melissa D. O’Rourke; and his siblings; Michael O’Rourke and Theresa O’Rourke. He is also survived by many extended friends and family to cherish and honor his memory.

John was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico and was a 1984 graduate of St. Pius X High School. Although he played many sports growing up, John most enjoyed running and was a member of the high school Cross Country team. John loved playing and listening to music. He played the organ for the Annunciation Church choir as well as the piano and accordion and his favorite band growing up was Rush.

John attended the University of Arizona where he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Physics/ Astronomy. He continued his education at the University of New Mexico receiving a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Before entering the work world, John decided to join the Peace Corps spending two years in Cameroon, Africa as a teacher in a French speaking province. He always had an aptitude for learning other languages and was fluent in both Spanish and French. Upon his return from Africa, John worked for Delphi Inc. as a Mechanical Engineer. After taking a year to explore his interest in teaching as a high school math teacher, John returned to industry spending the next 13 years at Motherson Wiring Systems (MLLS) most recently as a Manager of Product Quality.

John had an infectious smile that brought every room to life. He loved people and especially enjoyed family gatherings. John lived life to the fullest. He loved outdoor activities such as mountain biking, camping, hunting, and fishing. John had a passion for astronomy and loved sharing his knowledge of science with his kids and nephews/nieces. John also loved working with his hands and fixing things.

But most important to John throughout his life and what brought him true happiness was his family. Enedina, his wife, was his love and support. Together, they raised 3 truly remarkable children. John’s pride for his children and their accomplishments was special. John was Patrick, Emily and Melissa’s biggest cheerleader. His support and unconditional love is undoubtedly why each are truly special individuals today.

Although John will be missed dearly, his love and passion for life will live on in those who knew him. He would want all of us to replace our sadness and tears with a smile and to remember the good times that were shared together with him.
