John Ozaki passed away on Tuesday, 15 July 2025 from a heart attack at the age 96. John grew up in Eau Gallie, Florida and graduated from High School in 1946. During High School he enjoyed sports especially tennis and basketball. His number in sport was lucky #7. To further his education John attended University of Florida and took ROTC and graduated in 1952 majoring in Horticulture. There he was cited as a distinguished military student and was selected to receive Regular commission as 2nd Lt. John joined the military in 1952 and had tours in Korea and Vietnam as well as The Pentagon. He graduated from the Command and General Staff College in 1968. His last assignment was at Camp Zama in Japan where he was able to visit his father’s birthplace. He also received many Decorations including the Silver Star and Combat Infantry Badge. After retiring from the service in 1980 in El Paso, he earned his teaching certificate and worked for the El Paso Independent School District until 2011. In lieu of flowers, donations to the El Paso Hospice would be greatly appreciated.
