John Franklin Wilson

Another World War II Hero is Lost John Franklin Wilson also affectionately known as “Mack” or “Snuffy” passed away December 19, 2014. John was born to Eliza Jane and Riley Oscar Wilson on December 6, 1921 in Brownfield, Texas. His Family moved to El Paso in the 1930’s. He graduated from Austin High School in 1940. In World War II, John was a pilot in the Army Air Force flying C-47s. He dropped paratroopers over Normandy on D-Day and piloted many other missions and was recalled to duty during the Korean War. John was a retired Union Sheet Metal Worker. However, he had a variety of skills and could be counted on to fix just about anything. He was always available to help all family members and friends in any way he could. John was preceded in death by his brother Jack and sister Lorene. He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years Elsie; son, John L. (Ellen)Wilson of El Paso; daughter Shirley (Joe)Delahoz of Colleyville, Texas and brother W.C. (Toad) Wilson of La Luz, New Mexico. Other survivors are grandchildren John M (Nikki) Wilson of El Paso; David (Tanya) Delahoz of Breckenridge, Colorado; Michael (Crystal) Delahoz of Trophy Club, Texas. Also great-grandchildren Hayley and Tyler Wilson of El Paso; Daniel and Karsten Delahoz of Breckenridge; Mia Grace and Ellie Delahoz of Trophy Club; and numerous nieces and nephews. Committal Service will be held Monday, December 29 at 10:00 A.M. at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Hospice El Paso with much appreciation for their devoted loving care; especially Ruby, Michelle and Eduardo, or to the Humane Society. Dad and Grandpa, you are dearly loved, you will be greatly missed, and you will be our forever hero! Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home Northeast.
