el paso

Jorge R. Paz, age 67 of El Paso, Texas, passed away on 17 August 2026. He was born on 15 September 1958. Jorge graduated from Bel Air High School in 1976. He was a member of the drill team where he formed lifelong, brotherhood bonds.

Right after high school, he started his military career in the United States Marine Corps from 1976 to 1999. He served his country with courage, honor and personal sacrifice. He always considered himself a “Marine”. He never passed a Marine veteran without acknowledging them. It gave him great pride to greet them by saying “Marine or Devil Dog”. There were times Jorge, with confidence and enthusiasm, would shout out “Oorah” in public, no matter who was around. That’s how proud he was of being a Marine. When he retired, he brought his dedication and strong ethic to management roles at Logan’s and Lowe’s. Where he enjoyed making long life friendships.

He is survived by his wife Sylvia Gonzalez Paz, and his children: Jorge Daniel Paz, Rochelle Louise Paz, Victor Antonio Paz, and Jacqueline Raquel Paz, and his grandchildren Ethan, Benjamin, Jonathan, Jacob, and Terra. And his brothers Jesus and Jose. And many other family members that he also loved and cherished.

He is preceded in death by his fondly-remembered and beloved mother Beatriz and uncle Victor.

He was a long-time die-hard fan of the Dallas Cowboys football team. He had an unwavering pride and unshakeable loyalty for his TEAM. And, he wasn’t bothered about admitting it! Win or lose he is a Dallas Cowboy fan for eternity. “Go Cowboys”

Throughout the years, he had many adventures and experiences. He had traveled to different cities and countries. Made many friends and endearing companionships. He was a strong, unique person who lived life his way.

Towards the last chapter of his life, he had suffered from severe chronic pain. It was beginning to be difficult for him to experience joy and positive fulfillment. May God take care of him and may he be free of suffering and pain.

Let’s remember all the good memories we shared with him. And may you always keep him in your prayers and thoughts.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be to any animal charity or cause in honor of Jorge’s lifelong love for dogs. His favorite companion was Holly who enjoyed going with him everywhere. She was “his partner in crime”. Holly even enjoyed when Jorge took her for motorcycle rides. He has also loved Nani, Nano, Coconut, Bella and Apollo.

Hey “Devil Dog”, you fought a fierce fight till the end. We will always love you, and you will always hold a special place in our hearts!
