Jose R. Genera

Jose Rogelio (Roge) Genera, 80, passed away on Saturday, February 13, 2016. He was born and raised in El Paso, Texas. Preceded in death by his parents, Jose Maria and Celsa, brothers; Raymond and Albert and sister Josie. He is survived by his life partner and loving wife of 52 years, Maria Luisa (Licha). His children; daughter, Patricia and sons; David(Star Lynn), Javier(Letty), Roger(Dee Dee) and Mario, brother Robert, sisters; Amalia (Millie) Ley and Anna Maria, grandchildren; Sparkle Marie, Toni Lynn, Alex, Joshua, Briana and Zeke and one great granddaughter Ava Lynn. He loved his niece, Diana Barajas, like a daughter and close family friend, Manny Villegas, like a son. He had great affection for his niece from Chihuahua, Nicolasa Jordan. Roge was an independent, hardworking and quiet man. He retired from Sears and then as Head Custodian for Bowie High School. He had simple tastes and enjoyed the simple things in life; TV shows, movies and walking his doggie, Roxy. He loved all his family very much and was beloved by all of us. Although, we know he is in God’s light our hearts ache without him and we will miss him terribly. Visitation: 4:00pm-9:00pm with a Vigil/Rosary at 7:00pm, Friday, February 19, 2016 at Sunset Funeral Home-East, 750 N. Carolina. Funeral Mass: 10:00am, Saturday, February 20, 2016 at Guardian Angel Catholic Church. Committal Service to follow at Evergreen Cemetery East.
