Jose Vasquez Diaz

Jose Vasquez Diaz passed away on Monday, June 16, 2025, at the age of 93.

He was born in Mesa, Arizona, on April 25, 1932. His parents were Esiquel Diaz and Maria de la Cruz Vazquez. He later moved with his family to Juarez, Mexico, and then to Sthamann Farm and lived on Snow Ranch.

He served our country as a member of the U.S. Army from 1952-1954.

He married his “Reina”, Maria del Carmen Arellano, on March 5, 1958. They moved to El Paso in 1972, and there they raised their six children.

Joe was an avid Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers fan. He was finally able to see his Rangers win a World Championship. He enjoyed doing jigsaw puzzles, a hobby he passed down to his kids, and playing dominoes. His biggest enjoyment came from bowling, which he did until he was 88 years old. He walked in faith, always having a kind word. He loved deeply and forgave easily. He will be missed by all who loved him.

He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, and sisters. He is also preceded in death by his beloved wife, Maria del Carmen, and his loving daughter, Guadalupe.

Left to honor his memory are his children, Jose Diaz (Bertha), Fernando Diaz (Vero), Rodrigo Diaz (Lupe), Virginia Diaz, and Sandra Montaño (Rodger). His grandchildren are Luis, Andrea, Emilia, Tanya, Nathan, Rene, and Jesus.   His great-grandchildren are Adrian, Bella, Joey, Jacob, and Apollo.

Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 pm with a Holy Rosary at 6:00 pm on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at Sunset Funeral Homes-Northeast, 4631 Hondo Pass Drive, 79904. A Funeral Mass will begin at 10:00 am on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at St. Raphael Catholic Church, 2301 Zanzibar Road, 79925, Committal Service to follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery, 401 S. Zaragoza, 79907.
