Josefina Luisa Martinez de la Serna, beloved wife, aunt, and friend passed away peacefully in her sleep on January 31, 2024. Josefina was born in Monterrey, Mexico and spent her childhood in Sierra Mojada, Coahuila. She later moved with her family to the borderland where she lived in Juarez and studied in El Paso. She earned a degree in simultaneous translation from UTEP in 1986 and went on to serve her community through her work as a simultaneous interpreter and translator for several organizations including the Pan American Health Organization. She was an ardent Catholic who participated diligently in her church community of the Neocatechumenal Way. Josefina will be remembered for her kindness and generosity as she was always willing to open her home to others and receive them with a home-cooked Italian meal and glass of wine. She was the epitome of elegance and beauty inside and out. She always saw the bright side of any situation and paired it with a brighter shade of lipstick. Josefina was preceded in death by her doting husband, Bernadro and her brother, Rafael. She is survived by many who love her, including her three nieces who will always remember their dear Tia Pepi.
