Joseph Mark Chavez,

JOSEPH MARK CHAVEZ JR. passed away on July, 30, 2013 at the age of 24. He was a graduate of St. Mary’s University. He was preceded in death by his grandmother Maria Turner, great-grandmother Estella Villarreal and great-grandmother Maria Lopez. He is survived by his parents: Debra and Joseph Mark Chavez Sr., his sisters: Melissa Chavez, Justine Perry and her husband Joshua, his brother Mark Chavez, grandmother Irene Chavez, niece Sophia Rodriguez, nephews Nathaniel Perry and Landon Perry. Joseph is also survived by several uncles, aunts, cousins and countless fraternal brothers who greatly loved him. Our hearts are broken but the pain is eased knowing how many lives he touched and how much he is loved. His character and passion for life was a God given trait that was unlike any other. We are so very thankful for Lambda Chi Alpha for it was this organization where he received so many opportunities to channel his passion and where he found a second family in his brotherhood. Visitation will be held on Monday, August 5, 2013 from 5:00PM to 9:00PM, with a Vigil Service at 7:00PM at Sunset Funeral Home East. A Rite of the Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, August 6, 2013 at 9:15AM at St. Raphael’s Catholic Church, 2301 Zanzibar, with Rev. Msgr. Francis J. Smith P.A., officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home East, 750 N. Carolina.
