Joseph Calvin Meadows

Joseph C. Meadows, 82, passed away on Saturday, July 23rd, 2016, surrounded by his children. Joseph was born August 6, 1933 in Alexander City, Alabama to Mabel Meadows Malone. He was raised by his grandmother Caroline Meadows and uncle, Helius Meadows. Joseph enlisted in the regular Army in 1955 and received numerous service awards and accommodations. He remained in the military for thirty years. He retired in 1985 with the rank of CSM. Joseph married the love of his life Shirley Mills in 1961. To this union four children were born. Joseph enjoyed fishing, grilling, gardening, wrestling, NASCAR and traveling to Las Vegas and Inn of the Mountain Gods. Joseph was preceded in death by his grandmother Caroline and mother Mabel. His wife Shirley, sister Elizabeth B. Hogan, brother Henry L. Malone and sister Mary June Thomas. Joseph leaves behind brothers Nathaniel Malone, Jr. and Oliver Malone and sister Carolyn Miller. His children Joseph (Sherry) Meadows Jr., and their children Alicia, Joseph and Sasha. Julius (Uneeda) Meadows and their daughter Briauna. Patricia (Bobby) James and their daughters Jenelle and Trishann. Charlene Meadows and her daughter Jenesis. Many nieces, nephews and great grandchildren. Visitation will be 5-9pm on Thursday, July 28, 2016 at Sunset Funeral Home Northeast. Funeral Service at 9am on Friday, July 29, 2016 at Sunset Funeral Home Northeast with a Committal Service to follow at 10:30am at Fort Bliss National Cemetery.
