Joseph Anthony Raffaelli, 92, Born on a farm in Vineland, NJ, he joined the Navy in World War II and served on the aircraft carrier Ticonderoga. He was awarded the Purple Heart for burns sustained when Japanese suicide planes hit the carrier in early 1945. After his tenure in the Navy, he enlisted in the Army, retiring in 1961 at Fort Bliss. He continued to serve his country into his early 80’s, first in Civil Service, and then as a government contractor. An illness in 2006 left him blind, but never diminished his fighting spirit. Beloved son, husband, father, friend – dearly missed.
Funeral Mass will begin at 10:00 am on Friday, November 13, 2015 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Committal Service will follow at 11:00am at Fort Bliss National Cemetery with Full Military Honors. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to your favorite charity.
