JOYCE YVONNE MOORE
Born June 20, 1931
Joyce Moore passed to Heaven to be with Christ, her Lord and Savior, on Sunday, June 15, 2025. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 66 years, Richard Thomas Moore, (Dick). Joyce is survived by her sister, Gloria Chaney Pringle, nephews Federick and John Erick Pringle, and a very close friend, Nettelle Penoyer Chaney, all from Detroit, Michigan.
Joyce loved to tell the story of how she met Dick when they were both in choir as college students in Detroit. They loved Christian music and began a friendship through that common interest. Soon Dick asked Joyce to go out with him. Before long, they were in love and got married on November 20, 1953. As Dick graduated, they moved to Dallas, Texas where Joyce worked as a dental hygienist while Dick studied at Dallas Theological Seminary receiving two graduate degrees.
As Dick served as a pastor and Bible teacher, it became clear to Joyce that he should pursue a career as a Bible professor. With her support and encouragement, Dick taught at two Christian colleges and Joyce served alongside him mentoring and discipling the young women at those schools.
Joyce was always known as a follower of Christ’s words in Acts 1:8; “You shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth.” Joyce loved to witness Christ’s love and redemption. She knew that all who believed and called on His name would be redeemed. Even in her last years, while living alone and using a walker, Joyce would walk the halls of the apartment building where she lived, sharing devotional booklets, “Our Daily Bread,” with all of her neighbors and friends. She was a Senior Citizen Evangelist, passionate to share the Good News of Jesus. She believed that this was God’s purpose for keeping her on earth for over ninety years.
Her friends and family will greatly miss talking and singing with her, and together reading daily devotionals. Only the LORD Almighty knows how many lives were touched and changed by Joyce. Her smile and the twinkle in her eyes conveyed her love and concern for all of us who were blessed to know her. The words of an old Christian song describe her life and purpose: “I love to tell the story, ‘twill be my theme in glory, to tell the old, old story of Jesus and His love.”
The Memorial Service for Joyce will be on Friday, June 27, at Sunset Funeral Home, 480 N. Resler, El Paso, Texas. 79912. Visitation will be at 9:30 am, and the service will begin at 10:00 am. In lieu of flowers, donate to Billy Graham Evangelistic Association in her memory.
