Juan leaves behind his loving wife Anatolia de Carmen Mata, sons Arturo Mata, Jose Guadalupe Mata, daughters Hermelinda Hernandez, Maria de Santiago, Maria Elena Anchondo, Maria del Carmen Mata and Maria Cazares.
