Juan Antonio Ogaz

Juan Antonio Ogaz passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 15, 2026. He was a devoted son, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ignacio Ogaz and Josefina Guerrero; his daughters, Laura Bridler and her husband William, Wendy Ogaz, and Miriam Ogaz. He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Elma Sigala Ogaz, his daughters, Priscilla Ogaz Armendariz and husband Edward, Ruby Ogaz Corless and husband Gary, nine grandchildren Erica Zelenak Bramble and husband John, Jordan Leigh Fernandez, Tristan David Zelenak and wife Carly, Chase Corless and wife Kairra, Bernadette Armendariz, Bailey Bridler, Reed Aaron Corless, Dean Austin Corless, Amanda Ray Corless, and eight great-grandchildren, Esteban Fernandez, Bianca Bramble, Bella Bramble, Barrett Bramble, Waylon Zelenak, Mia Corless, Hunter Zelenak, and Dane Corless. He is also survived by many extended family members and friends to cherish and honor his memory.

A lifelong resident of El Paso, Juan graduated from Cathedral High School in 1954 and from Texas Western College in 1958 with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He dedicated thirty-five years of service to White Sands Missile Range, where he made outstanding contributions to the design and implementation of real-time data processing hardware systems supporting complex defense programs. Upon retirement, he was honored with the Commander’s Award for Civilian Service. In his second career, Juan earned his U.S. Customs Broker license and began working with Pedraza Customs House Brokers. He was later recruited by Air Express International (AEI) to establish its first Customs Broker Office on the Texas-New Mexico border. Following AEI’s acquisition by Danzas Corporation and subsequent merger with DHL, he advanced through positions of increasing responsibility, earning recognition and accolades for his professionalism and leadership. Throughout his career, he opened doors for others, mentoring and empowering the engineers who worked under his guidance.

His siblings, nephews, nieces, grandchildren, and lifelong friends often spoke of him as a role model, a gem of a man, and someone they deeply admired. He had a quiet strength and genuine kindness that made him unforgettable. We were blessed to call him our father.”

A Visitation will be held from 10:00 am to 11:30 am on Thursday, August 27, 2026, at Sunset Funeral Homes-West, with a Celebration of Life to commence at 11:30 am.
