Juana Crispina “Juanita” Barba, 64, passed away on September 7, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. Surrounded by her loved ones, she left this world with the same strength and grace that defined her life. Born and raised in El Paso, Texas, Juanita devoted her life to helping others. She worked many jobs throughout the years, but she was best remembered as a beloved kindergarten teacher and, later, as a dedicated social worker serving her community- especially in New Mexico, where she touched countless lives with her compassion and care. Juanita was known for her unwavering courage, her love of family, her delicious cooking, and her joy for dancing. She filled every space with warmth and laughter, and her legacy will live on in the many people she inspired and cared for. She is survived by her daughters, Mariana and Joanna, and her three cherished grandchildren, Jose, Anthony, and Sean. She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 40 years, Cuco, her son, Jose Jr., her parents, Mariana and Chencho, and her sister, Maria.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Juanita’s life on Monday, September 22, 2025, at Sunset Funeral Home, 4631 Hondo Pass Dr. Visitation will begin at 5:00 PM, followed by a rosary at 6:00 PM. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home-Northeast.
Juanita’s love, resilience, and kindness will forever remain in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her.
