Juanita Irene LeDesma

Juanita LeDesma, age 85, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, January 08, 2025. She was a wonderful wife, mother, daughter, grandmother and great-grandmother. Juanita is preceded in death by her parents: James and Bessie McGinness, her beloved husband of 63 years: Jose (Joe) LeDesma Jr, her daughter: Julie LeDesma, and her siblings: Carl McGinness, Claude McGinness, Judith Campbell and James McGinness Jr. She is survived by her children: Joseph LeDesma III and Janet LeDesma, her grandchildren: Joseph LeDesma IV, Jaclyn Becerra, and Jazlyn LeDesma, as well as her great-grandchildren: Joseph LeDesma V, Jace LeDesma and Evelyn Becerra. She is also survived by extended family and friends and will be missed dearly by all who loved and knew her.

Juanita was born on August 29,1939 in Hamburg, Iowa. Her family later moved to Tribune, Kansas where she attended elementary and high school before enlisting into the U.S. Women’s Army Corp in 1958. While in the Army, Juanita met her husband of 63 years, Jose. Always a caring mother and housewife, Juanita was a modest, yet strong woman who always looked out for others before herself. During her lifetime, she was instrumental in raising two generations of children. Throughout her lifetime Juanita was always active in her children’s activities, mentoring and nurturing countless youths. Her legacy will be memorialized by all those she positively impacted. 

A Visitation will be held from 4:00pm to 8:00pm on Wednesday, January 22, 2025 at Sunset Funeral Homes -West with a Holy Rosary to commence at 6:00pm. 

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:30pm on Thursday, January 23, 2025 at St. Jude Catholic Church, 4006 Hidden Way. A Graveside Service will follow at 1:30pm at Fort Bliss National Cemetery, 5200 Fred Wilson Ave.
