Juanita R. Vasquez, 94, of El Paso, Texas passed away peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, May 26, 2016. She was born in Olathe, Kansas in 1921. She was preceded in death by her husband Alfredo Vasquez and son, David Adrian Vasquez. Juanita was a resident of El Paso for 93 years and was married to her beloved husband for 74 years. Juanita was a homemaker who loved to cook and sew for her brood and neighbors. She was a very talented seamstress and made many beautiful wedding dresses. She loved to garden and looked after her gorgeous flowers as well as her entire family. Juanita and Alfredo loved to host prayer meetings at their home with song, music and laughter. Their faithful group was known as the Soul Watchers. She is survived by sons: Alfredo Vasquez Jr. and Roberto Vasquez; daughters: Rosemary Ramos, Dolores Castillo and Rachel DeWitt. Survived also by 13 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 4 great -great grandchildren. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother who was affectionately called “GG”. Juanita “GG” was the patriarch of the family and will be deeply missed. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. with a Funeral Service to begin at 12:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at Sunset Funeral Home-East, 750 N. Carolina Dr. Graveside Service will follow at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at Fort Bliss National Cemetery. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home-East.
