Julio R. Rubalcava

Rubalcava, Julio Roberto (Robert) Sr., was called by our lord on Saturday, July 20, 2013, surrounded by his loving family. Born on April 12, 1927 in El Paso, Texas, he was an honored ex on the 50th anniversary of his graduation from Cathedral High School. He proudly served in the US Army Finance Department during WWII. He attended UTEP and completed his degree obtaining a Bachelor’s in Latin American Studies from the College of Santa Fe. He was married 61 years to the love of his life, +Techita. Although, El Paso was always home, work took him and his family to different lands. He lived in New Mexico, Georgia, Montana, Costa Rica, Bolivia, Ecuador and spent time in the Philippines establishing property land valuation systems everywhere he went. He later became self-employed as a broker, real estate appraiser and property tax consultant. For years on Thanksgiving Day, his home was parade headquarters, the crowd was always legendary. He welcomed business associates, politicians, friends and family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Eugenia; his wife, Maria Theresa; his daughter-in-law Liz Rubalcava and his son Martin. Survived by his children: Julio Roberto, Jr.; Rick (Linda); Aurora (Ro); Barbara Sanchez (Frank); Laura (†Martin); 11 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Special thanks to all of you who touched him throughout his life and especially to those who provided care to him to the end. Hasta La Muerte. Visitation will be from 5-9 pm Tuesday, July 23, 2013 with a Vigil at 7 pm at Sunset Funeral Home-East. Funeral mass will be held at 9:30 am Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at St. Ignatius Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Fort Bliss National Cemetery. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home-East.
