Julius Schelski Jr., age 86, passed away peacefully August 3, 2013. Born in Cleveland OH, December 28, 1926, he lived most of his life in El Paso. Julius, known to his friends as "Ski", was a family man, hard worker and provider. He served his country first in the Navy and then the Army retiring with the rank of Sergeant E-7. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Delores Schelski, son Julius Jay Schelski III, daughter Jeannene Schelski, three grandchildren, Julius Jay Schelski IV, Vanessa Nichole Schelski, and Joshua Schelski, sister Helen Wolosz (Schelski) and brother Eddie Schelski. “Ski’s” hobby and passion was woodworking and he left many mementos to his family that makes them smile remembering Dad in the shed. The family is especially proud that during his career, he was part of the NASA team that put the first man on the moon, and that there is a part of the mission left on the moon that he worked on. A private memorial service was performed on August 6, 2013 at Sunset Funeral Home Northeast. The ceremony was beautifully conducted and Julius received his veteran’s farewell from a Military Honor Guard.
