Keith L Sanftner, 67, fell asleep in the Lord on April 27th after a lifelong battle with diabetes. Keith was a wonderful father, loving husband, and a brilliant educator whose encyclopedic knowledge was legendary among his family, friends, and students. Keith was an Eagle Scout and an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed photography, cycling, camping, hiking, and off-roading. While earning his bachelor’s degree at Earlham College in Richmond, IN, Keith met Victoria, his wife of 41 years. Working for Zale Corporation as a jewelry manager, he transferred to El Paso, TX where he lived for 34 years. His passion for learning and educating led Keith to become a teacher at International Business College where he fulfilled his calling and earned many accolades including the 1996 National Teacher of the Year award. Keith taught physics and chemistry at San Elizario High School for 15 years before retiring in 2013. “He enjoyed the world so much that he never stopped learning.” Keith is survived by wife Victoria, daughter Alexandra, son Roger, daughter-in-law Juleen, brother Wayne, sister Patricia, and many family and friends. Visitation will be held at Sunset Funeral Home, 750 N. Carolina on Tuesday, May 3rd, 2016, from 4-8 PM, Trisagion service at 7 PM.
