Kristin Leigh Wehunt LaVelle, 60, of El Paso, Texas, passed away peacefully on May 2, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on October 24, 1964, in California, Kristin lived a vibrant life defined by her loyalty, compassion, and love for nature and adventure.
Kristin was predeceased by her father, J. Donald Wehunt, DMD, and her sister, Carrie Lee Hamilton. She leaves behind her devoted husband of 30 years, Michael LaVelle; her stepson, Carl Vincent LaVelle; her mother, Barbara Wehunt; her siblings, Beth Aripez, Nikki Wehunt, and January Batten; and her cherished niece, Megan Hamilton.
A lifelong athlete and nature enthusiast, Kristin found joy in exploring trails with her beloved dogs, whom she treated as family. Her adventurous spirit shone through in her travels with Michael, seeking new experiences and creating lasting memories. Professionally, Kristin worked for many years as a dental assistant alongside her father in his El Paso practice, later transitioning to a career as a massage therapist, where she served her clients with deep compassion and care.
Known for her unwavering loyalty, Kristin was a pillar of strength for her family and friends. She cared for loved ones through their final days and never hesitated to share her strong opinions, always with the intent of uplifting others. Her fierce love and honest heart left an indelible mark on everyone she met.
A celebration of Kristin’s life will be held at Sunset Funeral Homes-Northeast, 4631 Hondo Pass, May 13, 2025, at 4-8pm, with Fr. Cobb and family sharing a message at 6pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Doberman Rescue North Texas
