Leonel Merjil Olivas

Leonel Merjil Olivas, age 79, entered into eternal rest on Monday, January 22, 2024, in El Paso, Texas. He was a wonderful son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and will be greatly missed. Leonel is preceded in death by his loving parents; Francisco Merjil and Estela Olivas; and his brothers; Hector Merjil, Efrain Merjil and Alfredo Merjil. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years; Andrea Merjil; his dearest children; Leonel Merjil, Alfredo Merjil (April) and Adriana Marisa Merjil; his sisters; Vera Rivera, Sylvia Voss, Estela Flores and Rosa O’Bannon; his grandchildren; Yazmin Patraw, Josh Merjil, Sophia Merjil, Alfred Merjil and Cameela Diaz; and his great-granddaughter; Aria Patraw. He is also survived by many extended friends and family to cherish and honor his memory. 

A Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 pm, Friday, January 26, 2024 with a Rosary at 6:00 pm at Sunset Funeral Home- West. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am at St. Matthew Catholic Church on Saturday, January 27, 2024. Those who cannot attend in person may join the funeral and memorial services virtually on Facebook Live at https://www.facebook.com/sunsetfuneralhome/ (no account is needed).
