Lewis Dean Richardson

Lewis Dean Richardson, Sr., 80, passed away on August 13, 2016. He was born on October 24, 1935 in Roseville, IL to Elbert and Christie Carter Richardson. Dean grew up in Oquawka, IL and graduated from Oquawka High School. He attended Coyne Electronics Technical School then joined the Army in 1958 and served for 28 years. He received numerous awards, badges and medals prior to his retirement as First Sergeant in June 1986. During his service he traveled to 42 countries. Dean married Barbara Pfilf in 1959 in El Paso, TX. They were happily married for 57 years. Dean was an amazing husband and an awesome father. He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara, his daughters, Charmaine, Sonya, and Toni (Stephen) Jackson, his sons, Lewis Dean, Jr. (Kimberly), and Dennis. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. A good friend to many, Dean proved to always be a friend to depend on. His humor was contagious. A Gathering of Remembrance will be held at 8:30 AM with a Funeral Service at 9:30 AM on Friday, August 19, 2016 at Sunset Funeral Home Northeast. Committal Service will follow at 11:00 AM on Friday, August 19, 2016 at Fort Bliss National Cemetery. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home Northeast.
