Mrs. Liya Flores Sibala passed away on September 20, 2015 at the age of 89. Born on March 22, 1926 in Fort Mills, Corregidor, Philippines. She immigrated to the United States in 1948 with her husband, Hilario Sibala who took the offer for Citizenship as a Filipino scout. He immediately Joined the US Army and retired in El Paso, Texas.
Mrs. Sibala was preceded in death by her husband Hilario and daughter Lillian Lucas. She and her husband lived a wonderful life of 70 years together. She was employed as a seamstress at Hicks and Ponder during her earlier years. She enjoyed carious handicrafts like pottery, making and crocheting projects like doylies. She loved to collect Knick knacks from her travels in Europe and the U.S. with her husband while he was in the U.S. Army.
She is survived by her son, Larry and his wife Phyllis in Phoenix, Arizona; granddaughter, Jeanette Tisa; great granddaughter, Kasie Reece Thompson; grandson, James Tolley and his wife Jacquelyn; great grandson, Christopher and his wife Tiffany; great grandsons, Zachary, Gavin and Anthony; great granddaughters, Brittany, Alexandria, Chelsea and Haylee; great great grandchildren, Jenika, Ryan, Jason and Lainey.
Visitation will be held from 5:00–9:00pm with a Vigil/Rosary at 7:00pm, October 12, 2015 at Sunset Funeral Home Northeast, 4631 Hondo Pass El Paso, Texas. Funeral Mass: 10:00am, October 13, 2015 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 9025 Diana Drive. Interment will follow at Fort Bliss National Cemetery.
