Lonnie Odell Yeary

Lonnie O. Yeary, age 86, of El Paso, Texas passed away on Monday, March 28, 2016. Lonnie was born on July 20, 1929 in Angleton, Texas. He was the son of Edna Frances and Emit Marvin Yeary. He graduated from Cypress-Fairbanks High School in Cypress, TX. Lonnie began his 27 year career in the US Army in 1948. In June 1961, Lonnie was recognized as the Outstanding NCO of the Fourth United States Army for the second quarter. He advanced to the rank of Command Sergeant Major prior to his retirement from the US Army in December 1974. While on assignment in Germany, Lonnie met and married his wife Margot G. Loose in Bad Hersfeld, Germany on April 26, 1956. They enjoyed 59 years of loving marriage. Lonnie graduated from Park University with a Bachelor of Arts in Social Psychology and earned a Masters of Arts in Human Relations from Webster University. Following his honorable career in the US Army, Lonnie taught English at Park College for several years. Lonnie is survived by his wife Margot Yeary, sisters Mary Bauer of Navasota, TX and Ima Kankel of Austin, TX, and numerous nephews and nieces. He will be missed dearly by his family and friends. Visitation will be held at 1:00 pm, Friday, April 1, 2016 at Sunset Funeral Home Northeast. Committal Service will follow at 2:30 pm at Fort Bliss National Cemetery.
