Lorena "Lory" Garcia

Lorena (Lory) Garcia, 43 of Ashburn, Virginia passed away on April 23, 2014. She was born in Juarez, Mexico on September 14, 1970 to Arcadio and Herlinda Mendez. Lory graduated from Irvin High School in 1989. On October 5, 1991, she married Orlando Garcia and in 1995 they had their only daughter Erin. The three of them lived in Denver, Colorado until 2007, when they moved to Virginia. Lory was a beloved mother, military wife and a former Mrs. Colorado beauty contestant who enjoyed hiking, exercising, and travel-she recently had traveled to Paris, France. Lory is survived by her husband Orlando; daughter Erin Garcia; mother Herlinda Mendez; and five brothers and sisters: Estela Baca, Teresa Ornelas, Jose, Sergio, and David Mendez. Visitation will be from 5:00pm to 9:00pm with a Prayer Service at 7:00pm on Friday, May 2, 2014 at Sunset Funeral Home Northeast. Funeral Service will begin at 1:00pm on Saturday, May 3, 2014 at Igelsia Bautista Genesis. Inurnment will be at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery.
