Lorenzo “Larry” Ortega entered into eternal rest at the age of 75 on Saturday, January 10, 2026, in El Paso, Texas. He was a wonderful husband, father, son, brother, grandfather, friend, and will be dearly missed. Larry is preceded in death by his parents, Amalio Ortega and Elena Rubalcava, as well as his siblings, Gabriela Terrazas, Mario A. Ortega, and Guillermina Ortega. He is survived by his wife of 23 years: Beatriz G. Paz, his children: Yvette Marie Vilasana, Iliana Gurrola (Ruben), Victor Ortega (Graciela), Samantha Ortega (LaTasha) and Mallorie M. Paz, his siblings: Carlos Ortega, Rosario Soto Ortega, Fernando Ortega, Irma Martinez, Alfredo Ortega, Patricia Ortega, Yolanda Smith, Jose G. Ortega, and Hilda Armendariz, nine grandchildren, and Valdivia extended cousins. He is also survived by many extended friends and family to cherish and honor his memory.
Pallbearers include: Victor Ortega, Ruben Gurrola, Derian Ortega, Sebastián Gurrola, Carlos Salinas, Jacob Armendariz, Freddy Valles and Joey Ortega. Honorary Pallbearers include: Alfredo Ortega, Fernando Ortega, Jose Ortega, and Carlos Ortega.
A Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, at Sunset Funeral Homes-West with a Rosary to commence at 6:00 pm. A Funeral Mass will be held at 12:00 pm on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, at St. Matthew Catholic Church. A graveside service will follow at 1:30 pm at Evergreen East.
