In Loving Memory of Luz Irene Santiago

September 7, 1952 – June 13, 2025

With heavy hearts and deep love. We announce the passing of Lucy Santiago, a Cherished daughter, sister, wife, mother, and grandmother. Lucy departed this world peacefully on June 13, 2025.

Born on September 7, 1952, Lucy lived a life marked by an unwavering devotion to God and her family, immense generosity, and quiet grace. Her kindness touched all who knew her, and her presence was a guiding light through the seasons of her loved ones’ lives.

Lucy is preceded in death by her brother Adolfo “Fito Lopez, mother Emma Lopez, father Adolfo Lopez, and sister Maria “Concha” Lopez.

She is survived by her devoted husband, William “Bill” Santiago, with whom she shared fifty years of laughter, adventure, memories, and love. Lucy was an amazing mother to her only daughter, Erica Montes, and mother-in-law to Eddie Montes “her favorite son-in-law”. Her heart swelled with pride and joy for her three grandchildren – Emma, Elyssa, and Elexus “Bleu” Montes – who were the lights of her life. Lucy is also survived by her loving siblings, her sister Olga Avila and her brother Arturo “Tury” Lopez, whose bonds with her remained strong and steadfast through the years.

Her warmth, generosity, unconditional love, compassion, and gentle spirit will be remembered forever. Her family finds peace in knowing that Lucy left this physical world to be in the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and has been made healed and whole. Though she has left this earthly life. Lucy’s legacy lives on in the family she nurtured, the memories she created, and the love she gave so freely.

In the words of Emily Dickinson: “Unable are the loved to die, for love is immortality.” Lucy’s love is eternal; her memory and legacy will remain with us always.

A Visitation will begin at 11:00 am with a Funeral Service at 12:30 pm on Monday, June 30, 2025, at Sunset Funeral Homes-Northeast, 4631 Hondo Pass Drive.  Committal Service to follow at 2:00 pm at Fort Bliss National Cemetery, 5200 Fred Wilson.  Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Homes-Northeast.    Please visit her online memorial at www.sunsetfuneralhomes.net.
