Luis "Louie" Rodriguez

June 1, 1928 — February 23, 2007

Luis “Louie” Rodriguez, 78, passed away, Friday, February 23, 2007. He was born in Valentine, Texas. He grew up in El Paso and graduated from Bowie High School. He was a veteran of WWII and served with the Army Air Corp where he participated in the Berlin Air Lift. Mr. Rodriguez worked for over 40 years and retired from the Southern Pacific R. R. where he was a lead carman. Mr. Rodriguez was a loving and generous father who believed in education for his children, both who are now teachers. He is preceded in death by his parents, Andrea and Loretto Rodriguez, brothers, Manuel L. and Rafael Rodriguez. He is survived by his daughter, Sylvia R. and son-in-law, Robert Rivas, son, Lorenzo M. Rodriguez, Sr., Lt. Commander U.S. Navy (Ret.) and daughter-in-law Susan, former wife and lifelong friend, Lydia K. Moncivaiz, sister, Christina Payne, two grandsons, Lorenzo Jr., and wife Wendy, and Alex, granddaughter, Jennifer and a great granddaughter all of Virginia Beach, VA, and ten nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 pm, with a Vigil at 7 pm, Monday, February 26, 2007 at Sunset Funeral Home, Chapel of Peace. Funeral Mass will be held at 9 am, Tuesday, February 27, 2007 at St. Jude Catholic Church. Graveside Services will follow with Full Military Honors at Fort Bliss National Cemetery. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home-West.
