Manuel Perales ("Cuate"), 81, loving husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, September 13, 2026. A proud 1963 graduate of El Paso High School, he earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from The University of Texas at El Paso. His career as an electrical estimator took him to California, Pennsylvania, and Arizona before he returned to his beloved hometown of El Paso.
Manuel was hardworking and dependable, known for his strong sense of responsibility and commitment to those he loved. After returning home, he renewed lifelong friendships and connections. His family marveled that nearly everywhere they went, someone seemed to know him.
For almost 56 years, Manuel built a loving home with his wife, Carmen. Together they faced life's celebrations and challenges with laughter, resilience, and unwavering support for one another. He took immense pride in his daughters and their accomplishments, celebrating their successes and encouraging them to pursue their goals.
A thoughtful problem-solver by nature, Manuel brought the same patience and practicality to family life that he did to his work. His daughters fondly remember the many hours he spent helping them with their math homework. Rather than giving them the answers, he would ask, “What does the problem ask you to find?” and “What facts does the problem give you?” What began as math lessons became lasting wisdom about how to approach life's challenges with patience, thoughtfulness, and perseverance.
Above all, Manuel will be remembered as a devoted husband and father, a man of integrity, quiet generosity, and unfailing dedication to his family. As one family member simply and lovingly said, “He was a good man.”
Manuel was preceded in death by his parents, Lorenzo Perales and Luz Lujan; and his siblings, Rosa Maria Perales, David Perales, Lorenzo Perales Jr., and Jesus Jose "Jay" Perales. He is survived by his wife of nearly 56 years, Carmen G. Perales; his daughters, Monica Perales (Matt Perkins) and Cristina Perales; and many extended family members and friends who will cherish his memory.
The family wishes to extend heartfelt gratitude to the many doctors, nurses, medical professionals, and caregivers who treated Manuel at Providence Hospitals Sierra Campus with great compassion and supported our family throughout this journey.
