1925-2015
Manuel Nunez, 90, was born in Smelter Town, TX on March 29, 1925 to Maria Romero and Jose Salome Nunez. Our beloved father and grandfather, passed away on Monday, August 3, 2015. He was a proud resident of El Paso, Texas, and a member of San Jose Catholic Church. Manuel was preceded in death by his loving wife, of forty-three years, Dora E. Nunez, son, Manuel Nunez, Jr., and his siblings: Mariano, Eusebio, Mercedes, and Josefina.
He is survived by his daughters: Maria (Gilberto), Gloria (Raul), Leticia (Hector), and Yvonne Paramo, 13 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and 1 great- great grandchild.
After 40 years of service, Dad/Grandpa retired from Southern Pacific Railroad in 1984. He will always be remembered for his dedication to family, his zest for life, his witty humor, and his patriotic support of our nation. He was an avid sports fan of the Dallas Cowboys and the Atlanta Braves. He completed a sixth grade education, and he could entertain anyone with his knowledge of world events, politics, and trivia. He was a voracious reader, and a self-taught gentleman. He will be missed by his family and friends.
Visitation will be held Friday, August 7, 2015, at Sunset Funeral Home-Americas, 4 pm to 9 pm, with Vigil scheduled at 7pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, August 8, 2015, at 9 am at San Jose Catholic Church. Right of Committal will be at Mount Carmel Cemetery.
