Manuela Baquera, 88, of Ysleta, TX, died peacefully on Wednesday, October 16. She was born in 1925 to the late Leonarda Villa on a snowy January 2 morning in Tornillo, TX. Manuela was raised in Ysleta where she would also attend school. She married the late Ernesto Baquera in July 1945 in Ysleta where they soon built a home and raised their family. Manuela was a homemaker and worked tirelessly so that her sons would have a good home and a good education. She was a devout Catholic and an active member of her parish group, Las Carmelitas, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. Manuela's life journey would take her through Oregon and Washington and Austin. She loved to garden and do cross-stitch but most of all she loved the canaries that she nurtured throughout her life. Manuela is survived by her four sons: Enrique, Ricardo, of El Paso, TX; Roberto, of Clint, TX; and Juan Ernesto, of Austin, TX. She is also survived by four sisters and two brothers; three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Her legacy will live in our hearts forever. Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m. at Sunset Funeral Home- Americas, with a Vigil at 7:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church (Main), Sunday, October 20, 2013. Mass will be said at 10:00 a.m. Monday, Oct 21, 2013 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church , Interment will follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery
