Margaret K. Marsh

March 2, 1924 — June 27, 2014

MARGARET K. MARSH, 90, was called home to be with our Lord on Friday, June 27th, 2014. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert E. Marsh; her parents Bleeker and Willa Dean Knapp, brothers Bleeker Knapp Jr. (Edna) and William Knapp (Faye). She is survived by her daughter Margaret Ann Fifer (Edd) and her son Herb Marsh, Jr. (Chula). She is also survived by her brother Wilson Knapp (Jean). Gigi, as her grandchildren called her, is also survived by four granddaughters (Ann Marie Vilmer, Carrie Harris, Michelle Fifer and Katherine Marsh) and seven great-grandchildren. She is also survived by many loving friends and caring neighbors who will forever cherish the time they had with her. Our mother lived an amazing life. She was very involved in the growth of El Paso. She was the Vice President and President of the El Paso Sun Carnival Association, President of the Women's Club of El Paso and the Lower Valley Women's Club, and President of the El Paso Women's Department of Chamber of Commerce. She was also a member of PEO Sorority. She was active in the growth of El Paso's YWCA and volunteered with Goodwill Industries. She was active in local politics where she was secretary to Mayor Raymond Telles during his terms in office. She was presented with the Conquistador Award for her community service to the city of El Paso. Our mother will be missed greatly. She was greatly devoted to her family. She will always be remembered for her thoughtful ways, kindness to others, wonderful cooking, and her beautiful southern dignity. She was always there when needed. She was a beautiful lady inside and out. She was a generous, selfless individual who touched everyone fortunate to know her. She taught all of us the importance of faith and family and her legacy of love will live on forever. A special thank you goes to her caregiver, Estella, for her many years of devoted caring and love for our mom; and also to the staff and attendants of Good Samaritan Society White Acres.
