Margarita Atilano

Margarita Atilano, age 91, of El Paso, Texas, entered eternal rest on Sunday, February 19, 2023.

Margarita led a simple life growing up in Juarez, Chihuahua, and at age 14, she became a professional singer. Traveling to Mexico City with her mom to perform was a great experience she spoke about all her life. She married her husband of 75 years, Richard Atilano, and they moved to El Paso and raised three children.

Everyone knew Margarita for her kind spirit and gentleness. She was truly an angel on earth with a special love for those around her. She enjoyed crocheting, working on crafts, sewing, selling Avon, and having yard sales.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Santiago and Juanita Guitron, and sisters; Celia, Amelia, Lidia, and brothers; Salvador and Manuel. She leaves behind her husband Richard; son Richard Jr.; Pete; daughter Margie Aguilar; 9 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and brother Ruben Guitron.

An angel lived among us,

A gift from God above.

Visitation will be from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM with a Rosary at 6:30 PM, Monday, February 27, 2023 at Sunset Funeral Homes - East, 750 N. Carolina. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, February 28, 2023 at St. Raphael Catholic Church, 2301 Zanzibar. Interment will follow at 12:30 PM at Mount Carmel Cemetery, 401 S. Zaragoza.
