Margarita S. Garnica, 83, beloved daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on July 31, 2015 after her battle with cancer. Margarita attended Bowie High School and dedicated her life to serving our Lord and the care of her family. She was actively involved at Our Lady of the Light Catholic Church where she served as a Eucharistic Minister. Margarita loved to be surrounded by her family and always welcomed them with loving arms, a delicious meal, a spiritual thought, prayer and always words of encouragement. She was preceded in death by her parents; Jesus & Cleotilde Salcido, her sister; Lilia Maldonado and her husband of over 50 years, Ricardo. She leaves her loving memories to be cherished by her children; Ricardo (Lucy), Rebecca (Roger), Margarita (Carlos), Fernando (Susan), Hector, Patricia (Enrique), Angelica (Peter), thirteen grandchildren and five great grandchildren. We love you so much and wish that we had more time together. We will cherish all of the great memories we had and will carry your values with us. You will be missed by all and your memory will live in us all forever. Thank you to La Mariposa Hospice for their care of our beloved Mother, but most especially to Becky, Lili and Joanne who were at her side from the minute she got home from the hospital. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. with a Rosary in her honor at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, August 6, 2015 at Sunset Funeral Home-East located at 750 N. Carolina. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 am, Friday, August 7, 2015 at Our Lady of the Light Catholic Church located at 4700 Delta. Interment will follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery.
