Margarita A. Parks

Margarita A. Parks, daughter of Francisco and Francisca Apodaca was born on July 21, 1932. Margarita passed away, Sunday July 7, 2013 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s and was received in the loving arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of over 54 years; Roger Gary Parks and beloved son, Kenneth Jesse Parks; sisters: Lupe Apodaca, Rita Apodaca; and brothers: Zacharias Apodaca & Joe Apodaca. Maggie is survived by her daughter Jacque Jean Parks; five adored grandchildren: Sarah Rae, Gwyneth Kathryn, Madeleine Ruth, Rhys Roger Kenneth & Helyne Olivia; her best friend & sister, Filiberta Valles; and brothers: Ignacio, Jacob, Elizario & Wenceslao Apodaca, all of Socorro & El Paso. Maggie was a lifelong resident of Socorro, Texas where she raised her two children and doted on her grandbabies. Maggie worked and retired from William Beaumont Army Medical Center for 35 years as Radiology Departmental Secretary. After her retirement she did charity work for the El Paso Diocese and focused on her immediate as well as extended family and her church at Our Lady of Mount Carmel. Maggie loved to dance, swim, hold her annual Easter party for the family and be with her family & friends where she would make people laugh. She would also talk on the phone with her sister, Fili for hours and hours just giggling the night away. The Parks family would like to thank personally Wenceslao Apodaca, Joe Rodriguez, Licah Ontiveros, Blanca Castro, Irma Valles, the caregivers at Desert Springs and all the countless family and friends who have been so supportive and loving to Maggie throughout her life & illness. Pallbearers will be Wenceslao Apodaca, Ignacio “Nacho” Gomez, Joe Rodriguez, Juan Frescas, Jr., Frank Apodaca & Frank Carillo. Honorary Pall Bearers are Roger Gary Parks (Deceased), Kenneth Jesse Parks (Deceased) & Jeffrey Leonard Parks (nephew, Deployed; Okinawa, Japan). Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. with a Vigil to begin at 7:00 p.m., Monday, July 15, 2013 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church (Main). A Funeral Mass will be said at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church (Main), 131 S. Zaragoza Rd. Interment to follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery.
