Margot Gertrud Yeary

February 1, 1926 — June 22, 2026

Margot G. Yeary, age 100, passed away peacefully at her home in El Paso, Texas, on Monday, June 22, 2026.

Margot was born on February 1, 1926, in Germany to Hermann and Gertrud Loose. She met the love of her life, Lonnie O. Yeary, while he was stationed in Germany with the U.S. Army. The couple married on April 26, 1956, in Bad Hersfeld, Germany. In 1968, they made their home in El Paso, where they shared 59 years of devoted marriage.

Margot was a woman of remarkable determination, grace, and many talents. Her professional modeling career began unexpectedly when a modeling agent noticed her in a restaurant in Germany and invited her to become a runway model. After moving to El Paso, she modeled for Glass Apparel through Mannequin Manor Model Agency until retiring at the age of 65.

Beyond modeling, Margot was an accomplished artist, accordion player, ice skater, pilot, and avid swimmer. She spent many years at the Fort Bliss pool, where her energy and competitive spirit challenged swimmers decades younger than herself. She embraced life with enthusiasm and joy, relating (often hilarious) stories of her fascinating life, entertaining family and friends in her home and dining with friends at the Cattle Baron Restaurant.

Margot had a special love for animals, opening both her home and her heart to many dogs and cats throughout her life. After the loss of her beloved cat, Willie, in 2022, she found happiness in caring for and feeding the neighborhood cats and birds that found their way to her home.

The family extends its heartfelt thanks to Aimee for the ten years of loving care she provided to Margot, as well as to the caregivers from HomeInstead/Honor and AM Hospice, whose patience, compassion, and kindness made it possible for Margot to remain in the comfort of her home. Their devoted care brought peace not only to Margot but also to her family.

Margot was preceded in death by her parents, Hermann and Gertrud Loose; her brother, Hans Joachim Loose; and her beloved husband, CSM Lonnie O. Yeary (U.S. Army, Ret.).

She is survived by her sister-in-law, Mary Bauer of Navasota, Texas, and numerous nieces and nephews, many of whom gathered to celebrate her 100th birthday earlier this year. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Her life was a testament to resilience, elegance, kindness, and an enduring appreciation for the simple joys of family, friendship, and the companionship of animals. Her memory will be treasured always.
