Maria Elvira Garcia de Montes

Maria Elvira Garcia de Montes passed away on January 26, 2024 at her home with family by her side. She was born on October 26, 1946 in Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua to Beatriz Arellano de Garcia and Leon Garcia. Elvira had to leave school and work several jobs in Juarez and El Paso to help her mother pay bills due to her father’s passing. Elvira married Jose Matias Montes on May 24, 1969 and had three children Alejandra, Jose Matias Jr., and Juan Carlos. Those closest to her remember her for her love of music and dancing. One of her favorites was Juan Gabriel. Her children can tell you about her always waking them up to her dancing and making them watch Dirty Dancing and Grease. Family and friends loved eating her homemade beans and tortillas. She was a loving daughter, wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. She always stood up for her family and always did what was necessary for them. She leaves behind her husband of 54 years, Jose Matias, children, Alejandra, Jose Jr., and Juan Carlos, 11 grandchildren with one on the way, and one great grandson. Until the end she always put her children’s needs before hers. Elvira will be missed dearly by her family and her memory will be carried in their hearts for eternity. Visitation 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM with Vigil/Rosary at 6:00 PM, Monday, February 05, 2024 at Sunset Funeral Homes- East, 750 N. Carolina, El Paso, TX 79915. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, February 06, 2024 at La Purisima Catholic Church, 328 S. Nevarez, Socorro, TX 79927.
