Maria Piedad Perez, 85, was called home by our Lord on May 18, 2016. Piedad, as she was known by all, was born on October 23, 1930 to her loving parents; Nicasio and Carmen Guerra who have preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her brothers; Ricardo Guerra, Ambrosio Guerra, Samuel Guerra, sisters; Irene Guerra, Adelaida Torres and survived by her brother; Francisco Javier Guerra. Piedad was a proud Ysleta High school graduate of the class of 1951. "Grandma Piedad", as she was lovingly called by her grandchildren, is survived by her husband of 61 years, Francisco Perez. Piedad is also survived by her children; Francisco “Frankie” Perez, Jr. (Lucy), Ruben Perez, Barbara Perez-Peña, Rose Mary Carreon (Santos, III) and Victor Perez (Cecilia). Piedad was always surrounded by her grandchildren; Armando Peña, Jr., Melisa F. Perez, Teresia A. Carreon, Santos E. Carreon, IV, Paulette V. Perez, Francisco G. Carreon, Andrew Peña, Isabela F. Perez, Emilia L. Perez and great granddaughter; Aurora M. Sandoval. Serving as pallbearers will be; Francisco Perez, Jr., Ruben Perez, Victor Perez, Armando Peña, Jr., Santos E. Carreon, IV, Francisco G. Carreon, Andrew Peña, Santos E. Carreon, III, Osvaldo De La Torre and Daniel Herrera. Piedad was an exemplary wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. Her life was a wonderful example of faith, humility, compassion and love. She will be greatly missed. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 9:00 p.m., Sunday, May 22, 2016 at Sunset Funeral Home-Americas, 9521 North Loop Dr. with a Vigil at 7:00 p.m. A Mass of the Resurrection will be said at 12:30 p.m. at La Purisima Catholic Church (Socorro Mission). Interment will be at 2:00 p.m. at Fort Bliss National Cemetery. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home-Americas.
