Marie R. Giron

Marie Giron, 91, passed away on May 29th. She is survived her husband of 72 years, Leonard Giron of El Paso, 5 children Casey Giron of Cypress Texas, Leonard “Lenny” Giron, Arelene Waddell (Gene) and Lawrence Giron (Iryna) all of El Paso and Patricia Van Horn (Frank) of Austin Texas. 11 Grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild; her devoted brother Ernie “Anez” Rodriguez (Irma). She was born in Kansas City, Kansas but at a young age her family moved to Nebraska where she met her husband at age 12. Seeking better opportunities they relocated to El Paso Texas in 1957. At age 53, she obtained her GED and became a teacher’s aide. She retired after 12 years. Marie truly loved working with special needs children. She was a wonderful cook, hard worker, domino player and loved a good game of poker. She instilled her strength and determination and “can do” attitude in her children; which has served them well throughout their lives. She will be sorely missed by all who loved her. May she rest in peace. Visitation will be Wednesday, June 1st from 4:00-9:00 pm with a Vigil/Rosary at 7:00 pm at Sunset Funeral Home-East.
