It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Mario Flores on June 28, 2026, after a short battle with cancer.
Mario was born on January 3, 1971, in El Paso, TX. He brought his natural warmth and dedication to a successful career in the health insurance industry. Mario was a devoted husband, inspirational father, supportive brother, jokester uncle, and most importantly, a loyal friend. He poured his heart into selflessly showing up for everyone. You could come to Mario for advice, help with a home project, an ear during a difficult time, or simply someone to share a drink with. He never said no, and if he didn't know how to do something, you could count on him to figure it out. Mario’s charisma instantly brightened any room he walked into; he was truly the life of the party. Every interaction with him was nothing short of memorable, which is why he was known everywhere he went.
Over the years, Mario loved to play golf. When he taught his daughter how to play, that became a favorite pastime for them. Meanwhile, he and his wife dabbled in tennis as a way to stay active. He was a loyal Dallas Cowboys fan, thriving on hosting cookouts or attending watch parties at the casino any chance he got. Whether he was dancing, being goofy, gardening, cooking, or traveling, Mario lived his life to the fullest. He will truly be missed, and his spirit will live on in the hearts and actions of all who were lucky to share this life with him.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Isabel Flores. Mario is survived by his loving wife, Yvonne; his daughter, Jasmine; his brother and sister-in-law, Jorge and Margie; his nieces, Catherine and Sophia; his nephew, Josiah; and his pets, Willow and Guero. Visitation for Mario is on Wednesday, July 8, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Sunset Funeral Home – East; with a rosary taking place at 6:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will take place on Thursday, July 9, at 10:00 a.m. at San Antonio Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery. Services entrusted to Sunset Funeral Home-East.
