Mario S. Martinez

Mario S. Martinez passed away peacefully on August 10, 2026, in El Paso, TX. He was born on July 16, 1942, in Zacatecas, Mexico, to Miguel Martinez Telles and Maria Santos Martinez

Mario was a hard worker throughout his whole life; he worked multiple jobs throughout the span of his life, from shining soldiers' shoes to working as a server and working in the agricultural field. He was a man of many skills. Mario was a great man, always lending a hand to anyone in need. Mario will be remembered by many close family and friends.

He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Bonifacia Avalos Martinez, and their kids, Mario A. Serrano, Miguel A. Martinez, Teresa Chariez, Julio Martinez, and sisters Maria F. Martinez, Elisa Martinez

He is survived by his sister Leonor Martinez and brother Jamie Martinez. His son Ricardo Martinez and Ricardo Wendell. As well as 13 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 20, 2026, 5:00-8:00 PM, at Sunset Funeral Home, 4631 Hondo Pass. Rosary will be at 7:00 PM

A funeral Mass will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, August 21, 2026, at St. Patrick Cathedral, 1118 N. Mesa St., El Paso, TX 79902

Mario S. Martínez falleció en paz el 10 de agosto de 2026 en El Paso, Texas. Nació el 16 de Julio de 1942 en Zacatecas, México, hijo de Miguel Martínez Téllez y María Santos Martínez Serrano.

Mario fue un hombre muy trabajador a lo largo de su vida; desempeñó diversos oficios, desde lustrar botas de soldados y trabajar como mesero y en el sector agrícola. Fue un gran hombre, siempre dispuesto a ayudar a quien lo necesitara. Será recordado por muchos familiares y amigos cercanos.

Fue precedido en la muerte por el amor de su vida, Bonifacia Avalos Martínez, y sus hijos Mario A. Serrano, Miguel A. Martínez, Teresa Chariez y Julio Martínez, y sus hermanas María F. Martínez y Elisa Martínez.

Lo sobrevivieron su hermana Leonor Martínez y su hermano Jaime Martínez. Su hijos Ricardo Martinez, Ricardo Wendell. 13 nietos, 29 bisnietos y muchos sobrinos y sobrinas.

El velorio se llevará a cabo el jueves 20 de Agosto de 2026, de 5:00 p. m. a 8:00 p. m., en Sunset Funeral Home (4631 Hondo Pass); el rezo del rosario será a las 7:00 p. m.

La misa de funeral se celebrará el viernes 21 de Agosto de 2026 a la 1:00 p. m. en la Catedral de San Patricio (St. Patrick Cathedral), ubicada en 1118 N. Mesa St., El Paso, TX 79902.

El entierro se realizará a continuación en el Cementerio Memory Gardens of the Valley (4900 McNutt Rd., Santa Teresa, NM 88008).
