Martha Maria Salazar, 68, passed away on Sunday, August 24, 2025.
Martha was born in El Paso, TX on November 9, 1956. She grew up in the lower valley area and was 1 of 11 siblings. She graduated from Riverside High School in 1975; and would later marry the love of her life, Michael, on August 12, 1977.
Martha was a full-time mother of 5 children who she loved dearly. She had a talent for arts & crafts, and sewed men’s and women’s clothing for friends and family. She designed and built costumes for any occasion and worked at her leisure year-round. She also regularly planned and assisted friends and family with event planning by setting up, decorating, and cooking. She loved what she did and always put her heart and soul into her work. In 1996, she was employed by the State of Texas as a caregiver to her son, Michael, who is diagnosed with Autism.
Martha is preceded in death by her parents; Federico and Carmen Sierra, her Sister Yolanda Recovo and brother Jose “Pepe” Sierra. She leaves behind her husband of 48 years, Michael Salazar; daughters Suzanne, Stephanie, and Andrea; and her sons, Michael and Raymond; her grandchildren, Gabriel, Johnny, Savannah, Dimitry, Theodore, and Sophia. She also leaves behind her sisters Carmen with husband Frank, Irma with husband Oscar, Olga, Gracie with husband Joe, Patricia with husband Roger, Leticia with husband Jay, Lisa, and her brother Fred with wife Margie.
Visitation will be from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM with a Prayer Service at 6:30 PM, Thursday, September 4, 2025 at Sunset Funeral Homes - East, 750 N. Carolina.
