Martha Josefina Solorza

July 29, 1929 — June 3, 2026

Martha Josefina Solorza Nevarez was born on July 29, 1929 in the El Pino Ranch, in Chihuahua, Mexico to Bernardo and Guadalupe Nevarez Mejía.

She grew up on the ranch with her brothers and sister: Andrés, Simón, Bernardo, Pedro, Ramón and Guadalupe. Her love for singing began in those early days with her siblings as her fellow musicians. Her devotion to Saint Pedro de Jesus Maldonado Lucero began when he was her family priest, celebrating her sacraments of baptism and communion.

Guided by her faith in God and reliance on Our Lady of Guadalupe, she raised her seven children Jaime (Martha) Solorza, Sergio Solorza, Analila (Juan) Moreno, Bayardo (Susana) Solorza, Alan (Olga) Solorza, Victor (Michelle) Solorza, and Ana Belen Solorza.

She was Grandma Solorza to many, many grandchildren and great grandchildren who will miss exploring and playing in her yard and hearing her sing songs about Cowboy Mice and Yodeling Gringos.

She devoted her life to serving as lector, Eucharistic minister, choir member, and catechist in her parish of Little Flower Catholic Church. She prayed for many with her rosary group and her love of Jesus was lived out through forming others in the faith. Those seeds of faith, sown in her in El Pino where the ones she gifted her family and is the love by which her children and grandchildren were raised. Her love will continue to bloom in the generations to come.

This beautiful, resilient and faith-filled woman will be greatly missed by all those that love her. We entrust her to our Lord and remain in gratitude for her life.

“Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord my whole life long.”

Psalm 23:6
