Martin Charles “Chuck” Wehmhoner Jr., 87, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, February 8, 2026. He was a devoted son, brother, father, and grandfather, and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Martin Charles Wehmhoner and Dorothy Orcutt. He is survived by his loving wife, Frankye Earnest Wehmhoner; his children, Brent Devin (Bridgette) Wehmhoner, Denise Gay Wehmhoner-Perez, and Cheryl Lynn (Daniel) Sullivan; his sister, Linda Wehmhoner Franklin; and his beloved grandson, Devin Charles Wehmhoner. He is also survived by many extended family members and friends who will forever cherish his memory.
A proud native New Mexican, Chuck was born and raised in Deming. He later attended the New Mexico Military Institute and went on to study History at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque. It was during his time at UNM that he met the love of his life, Frankye Earnest, whom he later married.
Chuck was commissioned into the United States Air Force, where he served honorably as a Navigator. His distinguished military career took him and his young family across the world, ultimately leading him to serve at the Pentagon before retiring with the rank of Colonel after decades of dedicated service.
Following his military retirement, Chuck continued to serve the military community by providing guidance to returning soldiers through the Fort Bliss ACAP program. He also supported local entrepreneurship through his work with the SBA community in El Paso.
Chuck’s deep involvement in his community, paired with his warm personality and unwavering integrity, turned acquaintances into lifelong friends. He was well respected, well loved, and will be remembered for the lasting impact he made on the lives of so many.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 17th, at Western Hills United Methodist Church
