Mary Szymblowski Callahan

The world lost a shining star on January 24, 2026, when Mary Szymblowski Callahan from El Paso, Texas, unexpectedly passed away at the age of 73.

Mary was born on January 18, 1953, in Baltimore, MD, and her family relocated to El Paso when she was just a small child. Mary graduated from Andress High School in 1971 and began her career with the US Government as a Secretary to the General at WSMR, continuing until her retirement in 2014 to care for her mother. Mary was known for her kindness and generosity, always ready to assist and support those in need. She held her family dear and leaves behind a legacy filled with unconditional love. We will deeply miss her warmth, guidance, and steadfast support. As we honor Mary, we reflect on her well-lived life and the treasured memories she has left us. Her influence on those around her will remain, a true testament to her generous heart and loving spirit.

Mary is survived by her daughter Christina Callahan (Angelique), grandchildren Brianna Diaz-Callahan and Keith Diaz (Sara), great-grandson Kayden Suazo Diaz, sisters Gloria Walls (Greg) and Doris Foster, sister-in-law Maria Szymblowski, as well as nieces and nephews: Vanessa Szymblowski Chambers (Jacorie), Jonathan Capps, Mary Foster, and Nicholas Foster, along with grandnieces and grandnephews. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Talbot P. and Mary A. Szymblowski, and her siblings, John and Joan Szymblowski.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at Sunset Funeral Home, located at 4631 Hondo Pass, El Paso, Texas 79904, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm, with a Rosary at 12 pm.
