Mary Elizabeth Larsen

Mary Elizabeth “Betty” McNutt Larsen, 87, passed away peacefully in El Paso, Texas on January 13, 2026, surrounded by love and family. Born in El Paso, Texas, she was the cherished daughter of Cecil and Minnie McNutt.

She was preceded in death by her parents and beloved husband of 57 years, Arnold Clarence Larsen. She is survived by her four children: Christopher Larsen, Cecile Zeigler (Craig), Leslie Linden (Jeffrey), and Richard Larsen (Jennifer); eleven grandchildren Heather, Megan, Chauntelle, Brittney, Jonathan, Mary Elizabeth, Austin, Kylie, Kirsten, Ella, and Claire; and six great-grandchildren John, Dylan, Giselle, Jacob, Atlas, and Remi.

Known to all as Betty, she was the very definition of grace and refinement. Poised, elegant, and unfailingly considerate, she believed deeply in manners and hospitality. She took pride in her cooking, baking, sewing, tablemaking, and gardening. She was a homemaker in every sense of the word, and made sure to pass that onto her children. Betty had a fondness for other things such as her treasured green Amazon parrot Peter, avid reading, and genealogy. Her faith in Jesus Christ was the foundation of her life. As a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served faithfully in many ways, including as a Young Women’s, Relief Society, and Cub Scout Den Leader.

Her life is beautifully reflected in the words of Proverbs 31: “Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies… Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates.” Betty’s works were many, and her legacy lives on through the family she loved and the example she set for us all.

Services will be Monday, January 26th, at the Church of Jesus Christ at Latter-day-Saints, 400 Rosmont Dr. El Paso, Texas.
