Mary Rose Lavango

El Paso

Mary Rose Lavango, age 87, passed away on Monday December 5 2022.  Her husband, Robert W. Lavango, preceded her in death.  She is survived by her daughter, Bobbiann (Roberta), several nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.  
 
Mary was born in Chicago, Illinois in 1935. She began working in high school as a switchboard operator in Chicago.  She married Bob when she was 18 and they immediately began traveling for his military career.  They had 17 assignments/moves in his 21 year military career.  They lived in Japan, Philippines, Germany, California, Illinois. New Jersey, Oklahoma and Texas where Bob retired in 1972  Mary always worked while they were on assignments and when Bob retired she began a real estate career in El Paso which she continued until Bob passed away in 1990. 
 
Mary was a funny, generous, compassionate, warm, beautiful woman and the best mother ever.  Those of us that knew her were so very lucky to have had her in our lives.  She always had your back, even if you were wrong.  She always knew the right thing to say to help you through a hard time.  She was a great listener and truly cared what was going on in your life. She tried to help whomever she could, however she could.  She had a great sense of humor, a wonderful laugh and a beautiful smile.  She will be missed beyond words.  
 

Visitation will be from 11:00am to 11:30am on Wednesday, December 14, 2022 at Sunset Funeral Homes-Northeast, 4631 Hondo Pass Drive.  Funeral Mass will begin at 12:00pm on Wednesday, December 14, 2022 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 9025 Diana Drive.  Committal Service to follow at 1:30 at Fort Bliss National Cemetery (East).
