Kathy Vega passed away on August 26, 2014. She was born in El Paso to Bill and Mary Jo Holik. Kathy graduated from Coronado High School and the University of Denver and was a foreign exchange student for a year in Costa Rica where she met her husband of 35 years, Armando Vega. They married in El Paso in 1979 and lived in Costa Rica, Nicaragua and College Station, Texas before finally settling in El Paso. They raised three children.
Kathy was an exemplary wife, mother, sister, daughter, friend and teacher who touched the lives of everyone she knew with her unassuming kindness and sincerity. Kathy took care of things and always had time to listen and help others. She had that wonderful ability to make one feel special by simply being genuine. Her love for family was foremost. She put her life on hold while caring for her mother and she felt honored to do so. Kathy was most admired for her unquestioning and resilient love, her kindness and that genuine, unpretentious way that she carried herself. She clearly is ‘La Beautiful’, forever a graceful and dignified woman.
Kathy is survived by her husband Armando and their three children: Adriana, Daniel and Jessica; her sister Marleen McCormack (Mike) and her brothers, Bill Holik (Jo), James Holik and John Holik (Pilar).
